Bangladesh Cricket Team Suffers Major Blow

Key Player Ruled Out of Test Series Against West Indies

Mominul Haque to Miss Crucial Matches Due to Injury

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that Mominul Haque, the team's Test captain, has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies due to a hand injury.

Haque sustained the injury during the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) match between his club side Abahani Limited and Prime Bank Cricket Club. The BCB medical team has assessed the injury and determined that Haque will require several weeks of rest and rehabilitation.

The absence of Haque is a significant blow to Bangladesh's Test ambitions. The left-handed batsman is the team's most experienced player and has been a key figure in their recent success. In 52 Tests, he has scored 3,299 runs at an average of 35.46, including 10 centuries and 15 half-centuries.

The BCB is yet to name a replacement captain for Haque, but Liton Das is expected to take over the role. Das has captained Bangladesh in limited-overs cricket and has a good understanding of the team's strengths and weaknesses.

The first Test between Bangladesh and the West Indies will begin on February 3 in Antigua, while the second Test will be played in St. Lucia from February 9.
