Former NHL stars gather in Moscow for Ovechkin's farewell game
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin are two of the most recognizable players in the NHL. The two have been rivals for many years, but they have also developed a mutual respect for each other.
On Thursday, Crosby and Ovechkin were reunited in Moscow for Ovechkin's farewell game. The game was a celebration of Ovechkin's illustrious career, which has spanned 17 seasons and includes three Stanley Cups.
Crosby and Malkin pay tribute to Ovechkin
In a pre-game ceremony, Crosby and Malkin presented Ovechkin with a commemorative jersey. The jersey featured Ovechkin's name and number, as well as the logos of the Penguins and Capitals.
Crosby also spoke about Ovechkin's impact on the game of hockey.
"Ovi is one of the greatest players of all time," Crosby said. "He's a true icon of the game, and it's been an honor to play against him."
Malkin echoed Crosby's sentiments.

Ovechkin's farewell game
Ovechkin's farewell game was a star-studded affair. In addition to Crosby and Malkin, other NHL stars in attendance included Evgeni Malkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and John Carlson.
The game itself was a high-scoring affair, with Ovechkin scoring two goals in a 6-5 victory for the Capitals.
After the game, Ovechkin was emotional as he addressed the crowd.
"This is a special moment for me," Ovechkin said. "I'm so grateful for the opportunity to play in front of my home crowd one last time."
