Djessie Rodriguez showed once again his desire to fight Roman Gonzalez. The young American boxer assured that a clash against the Nicaraguan would be "explosive" and made it clear that he feels ready to face this challenge at any time.
"I am ready to face Chocolatito, I think it would be an explosive fight and I would like to fight him later this year. My manager is working on that fight," said Rodriguez, according to the BoxingScene portal.
Rodriguez, who on August 6 retained his WBC world super flyweight title by defeating Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, has shown himself to be a boxer who not only has great skill, but also has a lot of courage, as he has not shown any fear when it comes to mentioning the names of the greatest fighters in his division.
The 23-year-old boxer knows that a fight against Gonzalez would be a great challenge, but he is confident that he will be able to win. "I think I can be the first fighter to knock him out. I am not underestimating him, he is a great fighter, but I believe in myself," added Rodriguez, who has a record of 16 wins, no losses and 11 knockouts.
Gonzalez, who is 35 years old, is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. The Nicaraguan has won world titles in four different divisions and has a record of 51 wins, three losses and 41 knockouts.
