Dream11 IPL 2023: MI vs RR, Mumbai Indians Lose To Rajasthan Royals By 23 Runs
Mumbai Indians' struggles continued as they suffered a 23-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Saturday.
After being put into bat, Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive total of 193/8 on the board. Jos Buttler led the way with a brilliant 100 off 68 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal contributed with a valuable 41.
In response, Mumbai Indians never really got going and were restricted to 170/8 in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan top-scored with a 37, while Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with a 39.
Buttler's Century Sets Up Royals Win
Jos Buttler was in sensational form as he notched up his second century of the season. The England wicketkeeper-batter struck 11 fours and 5 sixes during his knock, taking the Mumbai Indians bowlers to the cleaners.
Buttler's innings helped Rajasthan Royals post a challenging total on the board, which proved to be too much for Mumbai Indians in the end.
Mumbai Indians' Batting Woes Continue
Mumbai Indians' batting woes continued as they failed to chase down a challenging total once again. The top-order failed to fire, with Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav all getting out cheaply.
The middle-order also failed to contribute, with Tim David and Kieron Pollard managing only 12 and 15 runs respectively. As a result, Mumbai Indians fell well short of the target, losing by a margin of 23 runs.
What's Next for Both Teams?
With this win, Rajasthan Royals moved up to third place in the IPL 2023 points table. They will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on April 26.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, remain at the bottom of the table after suffering their seventh defeat in eight matches. They will next face Punjab Kings on April 28.
