Eight domestic cricketers debut as a weakened Team India is announced for T20 series against Bangladesh, Gaikwad to captain
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, beginning on December 1 in Delhi.
The squad features eight uncapped players, including four from the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy - Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Kishore, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Rahul Tripathi.
The squad also includes three debutants from the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy - Ishan Porel, Venkatesh Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh - as well as one debutant from the ongoing Ranji Trophy - Abhimanyu Easwaran.
KL Rahul, who was initially named captain, has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Rohit Sharma will lead the team in his absence.
The series against Bangladesh will be India's first international assignment since the T20 World Cup, where they were knocked out in the semi-finals.
