FBI Investigation into Russian Election Interference
Donald Trump and the Mueller Report
The Mueller Report, a two-year investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election in a "sweeping and systematic fashion." The report also found that the Trump campaign had numerous contacts with Russian officials during the campaign, but did not establish that the campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to interfere in the election.
Trump has repeatedly denied any collusion with Russia, and has called the Mueller investigation a "witch hunt." However, the report's findings have cast a shadow over his presidency, and have led to calls for his impeachment.
The Iran Nuclear Deal
The Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was a landmark agreement reached in 2015 between Iran and six world powers (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, and China). The deal was designed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and in return, the United States and other countries agreed to lift economic sanctions on Iran.
Trump has been a vocal critic of the Iran nuclear deal, calling it a "bad deal" and a "disaster." In 2018, he withdrew the United States from the deal, and reimposed economic sanctions on Iran.
