Flick Names Player Barcelona Bosses Should Offload in Winter
Barcelona handed Robert Lewandowski red card blow as Bayern Munich eye revenge
Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has delivered an update on the club's January transfer plans. With Barcelona facing financial issues and needing to offload players to register their new signings, Bayern are reportedly interested in signing Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay. However, Salihamidzic has now ruled out a move for any new faces in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Bayern sporting director confirms no January signings
"We are not planning any winter transfers," Salihamidzic told Sky Germany. "We are happy with the squad we have. We have a lot of quality and depth in every position. We don't need any new players."
De Jong and Depay remain Barcelona targets
Despite Salihamidzic's comments, Barcelona are still reportedly interested in signing De Jong and Depay. De Jong has been linked with a move to Bayern for several months, while Depay is seen as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left Bayern for Barcelona in the summer.
Bayern focus on squad development
With Bayern now out of the running for De Jong and Depay, the club can focus on developing its current squad. Salihamidzic has already confirmed that Bayern will not be making any major signings in January, so the club's attention will now turn to the summer transfer window.
In the meantime, Bayern will look to maintain their strong start to the season. The club is currently top of the Bundesliga and has also reached the last 16 of the Champions League.
