Steven Gerrard was booed by Al Ettifaq fans following their 3-0 defeat to rivals Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
The result leaves Al Ettifaq languishing in 15th place in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Gerrard has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, with Al Ettifaq winning just one of their last five matches.
The former Rangers boss was visibly frustrated on the sidelines during the match, and he was booed by some fans as he left the pitch at full-time.
Gerrard admitted that he was disappointed with the performance of his team, and he said that he would take responsibility for the result.
“I’m very disappointed with the performance,” Gerrard said. “We were second best all over the pitch.
“We need to be better than that. We need to show more fight and more desire.
“I’ll take responsibility for the result. I’m the manager, and it’s my job to get the team playing better.”
Gerrard’s future at Al Ettifaq is now in doubt, with some reports suggesting that he could be sacked if he fails to improve the team’s results.
The former England international has been linked with a return to Rangers, but he has insisted that he is focused on the job at Al Ettifaq.
“I’m not thinking about anything else,” Gerrard said. “I’m focused on this job.
“I believe in this team, and I believe that we can turn things around.”
Al Ettifaq will face Al Taawoun in their next match on Friday.
