Red-hot Rabada appreciates 300 Test wickets but aiming for World Cup glory with the Proteas
South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada passed the 300 Test wicket mark in style on Day 2 of the final Test against England at The Oval.
Rabada, 27, claimed the wickets of Zak Crawley and Alex Lees to reach the milestone and become the 11th South African to take 300 Test wickets.
The right-armer, who made his Test debut in 2014, has been one of the most consistent performers for the Proteas in recent years and is now one of the most feared fast bowlers in the world.
Rabada was delighted to reach the 300-wicket mark, but he admitted that his focus is now on helping South Africa win the World Cup in India next year.
"It's a great feeling to take 300 Test wickets," Rabada said. "It's a milestone that I'm very proud of, but I'm not going to dwell on it for too long.
"My focus is on helping South Africa win the World Cup next year. We have a great team and we're confident that we can go all the way.
Rabada has been in excellent form in recent months, taking 21 wickets in his last four Tests. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2023 Indian Premier League, taking 24 wickets in 15 matches for the Delhi Capitals.
Rabada is a key member of the South African team and his experience and skill will be vital if they are to challenge for the World Cup next year.
