The head of a local branch of Russia's ruling United Russia party and the chairman of the Bakhchysarai district council in Crimea have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the explosion that damaged the key bridge linking the peninsula to Russia.

Denisov was detained after being questioned by investigators from Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB).
