SG Dynamo Dresden stays in 3. Liga, VfL Osnabrück has a chance to return to 2. Bundesliga
SG Dresden secures 3. Liga membership
SG Dynamo Dresden remains in the 3rd division. The Saxony team won 4-0 (2-0) against FC Ingolstadt on Saturday and thus secured their place in the league. The goals for Dresden were scored by Christoph Daferner (23rd minute), Stefan Kutschke (36th), Pascal Sohm (61st) and Paul Will (64th). Despite the clear victory, Dynamo is currently only 15th in the table with 40 points. The gap to third place, which entitles them to the relegation, is currently ten points.
In front of 29,359 spectators in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium, Ingolstadt coach Rüdiger Rehm caused a surprise before the game and initially left top scorer Pascal Testroet on the bench. Apparently, the 32-year-old did not show the desired performance in training during the week. Accordingly, Valmir Sulejmani played up front with Dennis Eckert.
Dynamo started the game better and took the lead early on. After a delightful combination down the left, Daferner slotted the ball into the far corner to make it 1-0. The second goal was also well played: The ball ran over the left side to Kutschke, who took it directly and scored from 18 meters to make it 2-0.
After the break, both teams initially canceled each other out. It was not until the 60th minute that Ingolstadt became dangerous for the first time. After a cross from the right, Sulejmani headed just wide of the far corner. Only a little later, the substitute Testroet also missed the chance to connect with a head.
Dresden then punished the negligence of the guests with two more goals within three minutes. First Sohm increased the lead to 3-0 (61st), then Will made it 4-0 (64th). In the end, the victory was never in jeopardy and Dynamo celebrated staying in the league.
VfL Osnabrück misses direct promotion
VfL Osnabrück has missed direct promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. The Lower Saxony team lost 3-1 (1-0) at SV Meppen on Saturday and thus finished the season in fourth place. Only the top three teams are promoted directly.
In front of 13,834 spectators in the Hänsch-Arena, Meppen took the lead early on through Marius Kleinsorge (13th minute). Osnabrück equalized through Erik Engelhardt (58th), but Meppen struck back through Luka Tankulic (63rd) and Marcus Piossek (83rd).
Osnabrück is now three points behind third-placed 1. FC Saarbrücken and will have to play in the relegation against the third-placed team from the 2nd Bundesliga, FC Ingolstadt, for promotion.
