Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jasprit Bumrah to grace the same team
The world's top two white-ball bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jasprit Bumrah, will reunite at MI Emirates in the upcoming ILT20.
The duo previously played together for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and their reunion in the new UAE-based T20 league has sparked excitement among cricket fans.
Afridi, a left-arm pacer from Pakistan, is known for his express pace and deadly yorkers, while Bumrah, a right-arm seamer from India, is renowned for his accuracy and variations. Together, they form a formidable bowling combination that can trouble any batting lineup.
Afridi, who is currently ranked as the world's No. 1 ODI bowler and No. 2 T20I bowler, has been in sensational form in recent months. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2022 Asia Cup, and his performances helped Pakistan reach the final of the T20 World Cup.
Bumrah, on the other hand, is a two-time IPL champion with the Mumbai Indians. He is known for his ability to bowl yorkers at will and his clever use of slower deliveries. He has been a key member of the Indian team for several years and has played a crucial role in their success in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
The MI Emirates will be hoping that the Afridi-Bumrah duo can replicate their success from the IPL in the ILT20. The team also boasts a number of other star players, including Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Andre Russell. They will be one of the favorites to win the inaugural edition of the tournament.
The ILT20 is scheduled to be held from January 6 to February 12, 2023. The tournament will feature six teams, each playing 10 matches in the group stage. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, with the final scheduled to be held on February 12.
