Steven Gerrard faces demands to resign from his £15.2m-a-year Saudi job after he infuriated Al-Ettifaq with loan request

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq are demanding that Steven Gerrard resigns from his £15.2 million-a-year job.

That's after the former Rangers boss left the club furious by asking to take THREE of their players on loan.

Gerrard quit Ibrox in November to take charge of the Saudi Pro League strugglers.

And he has been linked with a move for Rangers defender Connor Goldson, midfielder Glen Kamara and striker Alfredo Morelos.

But Al-Ettifaq chiefs were left furious after Gerrard wanted to take the trio on loan for the rest of the season.

They do not want to lose three of their most influential players, especially when they are battling to avoid relegation.

And they now want Gerrard to quit his post - just two months after he took over.

Gerrard has won just one of his seven games in charge of Al-Ettifaq.

And the club are now just one point above the relegation zone.

Gerrard is under increasing pressure to turn things around.

But he could now be out of a job before the end of the season.

Al-Ettifaq are not the only club to be left frustrated by Gerrard's loan requests.

Rangers are also said to be unhappy that he wants to take three of their players on loan.

The Ibrox club are reluctant to let any of their first-team players leave on loan.

They are also said to be concerned about the financial implications of Gerrard's loan requests.

Gerrard is now facing a fight to save his job.

He needs to turn things around quickly at Al-Ettifaq.

Otherwise, he could be out of a job before the end of the season.
