Australias wicketkeeper selected to lead up Aussie greats against India
Paine to usher in new wave of cricketing legends
Former Test captain Tim Paine has been appointed coach of Australia's Prime Minister's XI, a team of emerging cricketers who will play a tour match against India in December.
Paine, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, will be in charge of a squad that will feature some of the country's most promising young players.
The Prime Minister's XI match is an annual event that has been played since 1951.
It is a chance for young players to showcase their skills against international opposition.
Paine said he was honored to be appointed coach of the Prime Minister's XI.
“It's a great opportunity to work with some of the country's best young cricketers,” he said.
“I'm looking forward to helping them develop their skills and prepare for their international careers.”
The Prime Minister's XI will play India at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on December 14.
