Bayer Leverkusen wants to make amends for the 1:0 bankruptcy against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Saturday (August 13, 2022) at VfL Bochum. The Werkself started well in Belgium but failed to convert their chances in the first half. After the break, the hosts became stronger and earned a deserved victory.
Now Leverkusen is under pressure in the Bundesliga. Bayer is only 13th in the table after two match days and has to win in Bochum in order not to lose touch with the top of the table. The Werkself have won the past three games against VfL and are unbeaten in the past five encounters.
Bochum, on the other hand, have made a good start to the new season. VfL won 2-1 at FSV Mainz 05 on the first matchday and played 1-1 at home to SC Freiburg last weekend. The promoted team is currently eighth in the table and would like to continue their positive run against Leverkusen.
