Asia Cup To Be Played In ODI Format Instead Of T20 Due To 2023 World Cup
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is headquartered in Bahrain and it announced that Asia Cup will be played in ODI format instead of T20 due to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup scheduled in October-November 2023. The members of the ACC met on Saturday, February 4, 2023, in Bahrain and made this decision.
ODI Format Will Allow Teams To Prepare For 50-Over World Cup
The ACC believes that playing the Asia Cup in ODI format will allow teams to prepare for the 50-over World Cup, which will be played in India later this year. The tournament schedule will be announced in due course. The last Asia Cup was played in the T20 format in 2022 and was won by Sri Lanka, who defeated Pakistan in the final.
The Asia Cup is a One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament contested by the national cricket teams of Asia, under the auspices of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The tournament is held every two years, with the ODI and T20I formats alternating every year.

The ACC also announced that the Asia XI team will play a three-match ODI series against West Indies A in Antigua. This series was originally scheduled to be played in 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exact dates and venues of Asia XI vs West Indies A are yet to be announced.
