On November 7, workers in the agro-industrial sector of the Novgorod Region celebrated their professional holiday. The solemn event dedicated to this event was held on the stage of the Novgorod Philharmonic named after A.S. Arensky. It was attended by Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrey Nikitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Duma Olga Boytsova, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Duma Elena Kirilova, Ministers of the Novgorod Region Government, heads of districts, agricultural producers, heads of agricultural enterprises, personal subsidiary plots, organizations engaged in processing and sales of agricultural products and raw materials.
“Our main task is to preserve and increase the population of the Novgorod region,” said Andrey Nikitin. “And the basis for this is strong economic growth and a comfortable urban environment. We must not forget about the villages, where 30% of the population of the region lives and where our agriculture is developing. In recent years, we have provided significant support to rural areas, helped to open new feldsher-obstetric stations and houses of culture, build roads, develop social entrepreneurship and implement projects for the development of local initiatives. And most importantly, thanks to the efforts of our farmers, we have increased agricultural production by 30% over the past five years.”
The Governor emphasized that today the priority task is to provide food security both for the region and for the country as a whole. And Novgorod farmers are successfully coping with it.
“We will continue to support this industry so that the agro-industrial complex of the Novgorod region develops dynamically and provides our residents with high-quality and affordable products,” said Andrey Nikitin.
As part of the solemn event, the winners of the regional competition “The Best in Agriculture” were awarded. Winners in more than 20 nominations received certificates, cash prizes and valuable gifts.
The event was also attended by leading creative teams of the region.
